for Cities Week is an annual research program and exhibition, held in different cities primarily across Asia. The program unfolds in two parts: a research period, where participants explore the host city through fieldwork, studio visits, and collaborative workshops; and a presentation period, where their findings are shared publicly through exhibitions, forums, talks, and city walks. Each edition is a collective experiment in rethinking urban life, bringing together local communities, designers, artists, and researchers.
Since its start in 2021, for Cities Week has been held in Tokyo, Kyoto, Cairo, Ho Chi Minh City, and Chiang Mai. While each edition takes on a distinct theme - from exploring everyday play and repair in Japanese cities, to reimagining Cairo through soundscapes, to researching grassroots urban practices in Ho Chi Minh City - the program consistently combines research, exhibitions, workshops, and dialogue to uncover new ways of living with and designing our cities.
